Made for you. Made to last.

I make one-off pieces of furniture, boxes and other objects in solid timber, created around the people, spaces and occasions they are made for.

Perhaps you have an idea for something you’ve never been able to find. Perhaps you need something to work perfectly in a particular space. Or perhaps you want to create a gift or keepsake that has meaning beyond the day it is given.

Whatever the starting point, I can help turn that idea into something real.

Designed together

A bespoke commission doesn’t have to start with a finished idea.

Sometimes you know exactly what you want. Sometimes you just know that the thing you’re looking for doesn’t exist yet.

I enjoy that part of the process: asking questions, exploring possibilities and working through the details until the design feels right.

Once we’ve settled on an approach, I combine traditional woodworking skills with modern tools and techniques to bring it to life.

The things that are worth making

I don’t make things simply because they can be made.

The pieces I enjoy most have a reason for existing. They solve a particular problem, fit a particular space, mark an important occasion or simply give someone the pleasure of owning something made especially for them.

I work with you to understand what you’re looking for, develop the design together and then make it carefully in my workshop in Wickford, Essex.

The result is something that could never have come from a catalogue — because it was made for you.

Made with care

Good materials deserve careful making.

I particularly enjoy working with solid timber from local yards or mills and allowing the character of the wood to become part of the finished piece. I take time over the details that might not immediately be noticed — the feel of an edge, the proportions of a joint, the movement of a drawer, the way a surface catches the light.

Some parts are made with modern precision; others are shaped and finished by hand.

The aim isn’t to make something complicated.

It’s to make something right.
