I was fortunate enough to be asked to teach someone to make their son a wooden toy box for their birthday.

It was important to them that we try to minimise the environmental impact of ‘throw away furniture’ so managed to salvage an old oak table which was being thrown out. While it is a bit more work, it is so rewarding to know that you’ve given the wood a whole new life and purpose.

They did so well, taking the lessons and guidance I offered with grace. With a great deal of effort and a couple of days’ worth of time, their son has a beautiful hand made box from their mum that I’m sure they will treasure forever.
